Todays creating challenge was to make an instrument. This is part of our inquiry about sound. Miss Pryde gave us a pile of old boxed and tubes then she let us go on an adventure hunt for anything that could help us make an instrument. We found lots of noisy things. We found leaves that go crunch, acorns that can make a rattling noise, sticks that can make lots of different types of noises depending on size and how you use them. We all came up with some very different ideas for musical instruments. We are a talented group of musicians.
Welcome to room 7! We are a group of year 2's that love learning and being active. Our teacher's name is Miss Pryde.

Egg Carton Creations
Today Room whitu did some creating. We used egg cartons, eyes, pipe cleaners, pompoms and glue to make insects or animals. Three of our brave boys chose to make crocodiles which after a lot of hard work turned out amazing. Some other creatures that are features are caterpillars, lady bugs, whales, bunnies, butterflies and turtles. How clever are we? What would you have made?

Library Forts
At the library room 7 read a book about how to make forts. We worked in groups of 5 to make our own forts. We had to work as a team. We used sheets, pillows, chairs and tables. One of our groups turned their fort into a library, another group chose to make a boy's room and girl's room. The final group made two rooms, one with pillows to make the ground comfortable. This is the room where you read softcover books. The other bedroom was empty and was to read hardcover books. The reason for this is because we have a rule that hardcover books have to be on the floor or on a table in order to protect the spine. This group also incorporated the library computers into their fort as their office. We thought this was pretty cool. All three groups worked wonderfully together and had such wonderful ideas. Fun at Flying Fives
Every Wednesday we go to Flying Fives. We love flying fives because we get to play with lots of cool things. We play in the kitchen, we build with lego or on the construction table, we play dress up, make puppet shows, create works of arts and sometimes we do activities. Today we were platting wool for our bags. It was hard for our little fingers but we had fun doing it anyway. Keep an eye on our blog to see what our bags look like when we have finished them.
Teamwork Towers
Every Tuesday Mrs Collins teaches us something special. This term we have been learning about smart relationships. We have talked about smart relationships with our parents, teachers, friends and even smart relationships with people online. On Tuesday we put our smart relationships to the test and we worked together to build a tower out of dried pasta and marshmallows. The tower had to stand by itself for three seconds and the group with the tallest tower won. We all tried very hard but there could only be one winner. Congratulations to Dito and Yavi for their freestanding tower that stood at a whopping 31cm tall.
