P.E - Netball

Today we learnt some netball skills. We learnt to push a ball from our chest , how to bounce the ball and how to catch the ball without it dropping. At the end of the lesson we played ball tag and dodge ball to see if we could put some of our skills into practice. We had a lot of fun. The hardest part was throwing the ball straight.

Learning to take photos

Micaela and Ava are learning what makes a good photo and what makes a bad photo. Above is some examples of 'bad' photos. The first photo they have their finger in the way and the photo is blurry. The second photo they aren't looking at the camera. The third photo they have lots of people behind them and the photo is unfocussed.
To take a good photo you need to remember to have a background without distractions, the photo needs to be focused and the people need to be looking at the camera and smiling. Don't forget to keep your fingers clear of the camera lens.

Learning Through Play

The last few weeks Room 7 has been learning a range of new and different games, with a focus on card games. This helps us with number recognition, fine motor skills, social skills and is just a lot of fun. Below is some photos of our students learning through play.

Amarley and Ahea worked together to complete a puzzle. Later in the afternoon Rawiri joined in to help out.

Two groups played Go Fish. We focused on waiting our turn, listening to others when it's their turn and identifying numbers to 10. Next time we might use harder numbers.

One group played a new game called memory. Our focus was taking turns and paying attention to the numbers people were flipping over and trying to remember where they were. In the photo below you see Khit holding up a pair of fives, he was very excited.

Isaac and Ziv took to the whiteboards. They took the roll by writing down all the names of the students that were in class and they wrote down all the class rules. Awesome writing skills guys!

Freedom and Aryah played Pop up Pete, a wonderful game for fine motor skills. It was a bit of a shock to the whole class everytime Pete popped up.

What are your favourite games to play at home with your whanau?

Distance Learning - Thursday 4th March '21

Oat the Goat

Aanya is one of our three students on campus during alert level 3. She has been completing her distance learning tasks here at school and getting plenty of digital practice. Today Aanya watched the Oat the Goat video, drew a picture on her iPad of the goat then wrote a story to go with it. Aanya is practicing inserting pictures, using background colours and text boxes and is beginning to add things to her blog. Lots of learning, awesome work Aanya.

Distance Learning - Tuesday 2nd Feb

Today Carlo took on the 'Weeding the Garden' challenge. He got outside, put on some gloves and got to work taking weeds out of the garden. Awesome work Carlo. I can't wait to see what room 7 students get up to tomorrow.

Flying Fives - Learning through play

Rawiri had a blast this afternoon playing with the blocks. He was playing dominos. He started out with a long line but by the end of the day he had tried many different ways to make his dominos more elaborate. He attempted a small circle which at first didn't work so he moved all the blocks closer together and was able to make it work.

The next thing he attempted was dominos that turned a corner, in the video you can see him counting down and starting them off.

At the end (which was missed on video) you see him walk over to see if it worked and when he realised it did, he was very pleased with himself, he even clapped.

One of the final things Rawiri tried was using a range of different sized blocks to make an extra long domino work. You will notice in the video he uses all the small blocks at the very end.

It was awesome to see Rawiri trying and trying again. It was also cool to see the students that stopped by to have a look, play momentarily or offer to help.

Meet Room 7 - 2021

Welcome to the students of room 7. We'll tell you a bit about ourselves. We are smart, kind and helpful year 2 students at Panmure Bridge. We are loving our digital learning and love when Miss Pryde reads 'Fantastic Mr Fox' to us after lunch. We can say hello in lots of different languages and we are very excited to learn more. Follow our journey of 2021 to see what we get up to.
