Morning maths board

Every morning we do our maths board. There are four parts to the maths board. In part one the teacher tells us the number of the day and we have to say the number before, the number after, double it and half it. Sometimes you can't half the number because it's odd. That's another thing we have to do, say if it is odd or even. We then put up the number in words. Part two is the shape of the day, we talk about the vertices and edges of the shape. Then we do the equation of the day and let's estimate. Do you know what estimate means? It means to take a guess but not a silly guess, a proper guess. It's okay if you get it wrong, you don't always estimate correctly. In the third part we do fractions, we have learnt a lot about fractions. We count money, both notes and coins. We are getting better at that too. We also do dot patterns. We like dot patterns. Miss Pryde holds up a dot pattern for only 1 second and we have to say how many dots there are. Then we have figure out how many dots we have to add or takeaway to get to 5 or how many we have to add to get to 10. The last part is our favourite, it's called What's the time Mr. Wolf. Miss Pryde says that every time then she tells us a time. We have to put up the digital and analogue version of it. We started off doing 1 o clock, 2 o clock, 3 o clock etc but now we do 1:30, 2:30, 3:30. We have to think hard but we love doing the morning maths board.

  1. I think your maths board is a really cool. I like the way you can all interact with the board. You are very confident when sharing how you worked out the problem. Do you all get a chance to share with the group or just one person each day?

    1. Everyday somebody different gets to be the teacher. The person who answers the question gets to put the answer up on the maths board. Our favourite thing about the maths board is that everybody can participate.
